Sweet.
According to this, Judge Allen Edwards has ruled that the ballot for the LA-5 Congressional election be reopened because of Rodney Alexander's last-minute switch from Democrat to Republican.
At least one craven attempt to subvert the democratic process has been nipped in its rotten little bud. But it gets even better:
Edwards further ruled that Rep. Rodney Alexander sought to manipulate the ballot system when he switched his affiliation from Democrat to Republican shortly before the sign-up period ended on Aug. 6.
Take that, Alexander. Perhaps some of you legal folk can chime in here--what penalties might he be subject to? I hope he doesn't just get a slap on the hand.
Pending the inevitable appeals, we should be able to put someone on the ballot soon:
Officials must reopen the ballot for the Nov. 2 election this week, pending appeals to the judge´s ruling.
I hope we can get someone decent. And I'd love to pour some dKos money into this. The best revenge of all will be to replace rotten Rodney with a real, proud Democrat.
